    Implementation and Performance of the ATLAS Jet Trigger

    The ATLAS trigger is organized in three levels: the first one (LVL1) is hardware based, while the High-Level Trigger (HLT) system, which groups the second (LVL2) and third (Event Filter, EF) trigger levels, is software based. The ATLAS jet trigger must accurately measure the jet energy, to distinguish high pT jets from low pT ones. Hadronic calibration is applied at HLT: a dedicated calibration scheme is implemented at LVL2, while the EF uses offline algorithms. This poster presents the challenges of the ATLAS jet trigger and describes its implementation and expected performance. We review the current physics signatures, expected rates and efficiencies as obtained from MC studies. We discuss the strategies used to perform the hadronic calibration for the HLT

    This work presents the challenges of the ATLAS jet trigger and describes its implementation and expected performance. The ATLAS trigger is organized in three levels: the first one (L1) is implemented in custom made electronic modules, while the High-Level Trigger (HLT) system, which groups the second (L2) and third (Event Filter, EF) trigger levels, is based on software running in commercial computers. Both L1 and the HLT perform reconstruction of physic objects, like leptons, photons or jets. A precise hadronic calibration is applied at the HLT with the aim of accurately determining the jet energy. This optimizes the behavior of our selection criteria. A dedicated calibration scheme is implemented at L2, while the EF uses offline algorithms. We discuss the strategies used to perform the hadronic calibration for the HLT. We review the current physics signatures, expected rates and efficiencies as obtained from MC studies

    The Multicriteria decision analysis is a tool to support decision-making in the identification of areas with the utmost beekeeping potential. This paper design a GIS multicriteria approach to assess the beekeeping potential. The development of a conceptual model structure requires the participation of stakeholders and experts in that process. The spatial Multicriteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) allowed defining the potential beekeeping map. The resulting maps can be used by the beekeepers associations to easily select the more suitable areas for the apiaries location or relocation and avoid prohibited areas by legal requirements

    Resonant and nonresonant D+ -> K- pi+ l+ nu(l) semileptonic decays

    We analyse the semileptonic decay D+ -> K- pi+ l+ nu(l) using an effective Lagrangian developed previously to describe the decays D -> P l nu(l) and D -> V l nu(l). Light vector mesons are included in the model which combines the heavy quark effective Lagrangian and chiral perturbation theory approach. The nonresonant and resonant contributions are compared. With no new parameters the model correctly reproduces the measured ratio Gamma(nres)/Gamma(nres + res). We also present useful nonresonant decay distributions. Finally, a similar model, but with a modified current which satisfies the soft pion theorems at the expense of introducing another parameter, is analyzed and the results of the models are compared.Comment: 17 pages, 3 Postscript figures, standard Latex, extended revision, title, abstract and text (especially Sec.     From the experimental branching ratios for B>ρ0lνˉlB^- --> \rho^0 l^-\bar\nu_l and D^+ --> {\overl K}^{*0}({\overl K}^0) e^+ \nu_e one finds, in the Heavy Quark Limit of HQETHQET, Vbu=(8.1±1.7)x103 |V_{bu}|=(8.1\pm 1.7) x 10^{-3}, larger but consistent with the actual quoted range (27)x103(2 - 7) x 10^{-3}. In the same framework one predicts for R(B>Kγ)=(2±2)102R(B --> K^*\gamma)=( 2 \pm 2 ) 10^{-2}.Comment: 9 pages, 1 Figure avalaible on request from [email protected]
